Tell us about the Travel section!
The Travel section was formed on 2 March 1994. The intent was to visit various places of interest and to socialise. Currently we have a mixed membership of 56 people, mainly in the older age bracket.
We’ve certainly carried out our intention to visit various places of interest, and have of recent years extended our trips from day or afternoon visits (usually on a Sunday)to include at least one week-long visit annually. Our trips are subsidised from raffle funds within the club.
Our day trips have included Hanmer Springs, Alpaca Farm, Dairy Farm, Walnut Farm and Processing, other Chartered Clubs, Akaroa, Okains Bay, and A & P Shows.
Longer visits have included Hokitika, Lake Kaniere, Kumara Races, Westport, Coaltown, Reefton, Karamea, Franz Joseph, Cromwell and surrounding Districts, Dunedin, Nelson, Picton, and Blenheim.

Anyone is welcome to join the travel section!

The travel section meets once a month to discuss upcoming trips.
