If you require a private and comfortable space in which to hold a funeral or wake for a loved one, then the Woolston Club can help.

We work closely with funeral directors from across Christchurch to organise professional funerals which meet the needs of their clients.
Room choices
From 400 people in our large Sports Bar, to a small family gathering in our Snug Lounge, we have the right room to suit your requirements. Click the links below to view our rooms available for hire:

No room hire fee
We don’t charge any room hire fee for funerals or wakes. We provide the room and the staffing free of charge.

Last minute organisation
We understand that funerals and wakes often have to be organised within a short time frame. We can respond quickly to your requirements and organise the logistics of the funeral in a timely and responsive manner. 
Catering options
We offer a varied catering menu, from fingers foods and platters to buffets and set menus. We can also cater for special dietary requirements; our chefs make the food special for each and every one of your guests.

Do I have to be a member of the club to book or funeral or wake at the Woolston Club?
No, you don’t have to be a member of the club to book a funeral or wake here. You only need to be a member to purchase alcohol, and for funerals and wakes we can get what’s called a ‘special license’ from the council which means all your guests are able to purchase alcohol regardless of whether they are a member of the club.
