About Us
The Woolston Club formally known as The Woolston Workingman’s Club Inc was officially opened by Norman Kirk on 22nd Dec 1973. 55 years on the Club now stands on 18 acres of grounds in the residential area of Woolston, Christchurch. The Club is both a home to its 5000 members and a major local community entertainment and leisure facility.
There are 3 Main Buildings on the site:
The All Sports Pavilion and Ron Mitchell Memorial Boxing Gym adjacent to Garrick Park (so named after the Club’s founder.) These are home to Lancaster Park Woolston Cricket Club, Woolston Technical AFC, Woolston Boxing and are also used by community groups such as Handiscope and Weight Watchers.
The Bowls Pavilion with 3 full size lawn bowling greens - the home of Bowls Woolston and used as an Indoor Bowls facility in the winter.
The Main Club Facility which houses 5 bars / functions spaces , Hatrix Restaurant and Bistro, a full service TAB, Gaming room, Meeting rooms and an area for kids with internet pc and play stations and the Club's administration offices. There are also pool and snooker tables, darts boards, and indoor bowling mats.
Surrounded by landscaped lawns and gardens including 2 grass tennis courts, Quoits, Petanque and BBQ areas and with 430 car parks on site plus designated external heated smoking areas we are very proud of our Club and invite you to visit us and experience our Warm Woolston Welcome.
